The time for thanksgiving is upon us and I have much to be thankful for. I’m truly blessed to have a business that feeds my soul and a business partner who gets me – I am grateful for Ask Ajna and for Marian. I’m also grateful for you – thank you for supporting our mission to help professional women find their power and true voices. To show my appreciation, I’d like to share some of my favorite gratitude quotes.
As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them. – John F. Kennedy
Real integrity is when there is complete alignment between actions and words. Expressions of true gratitude can be seen, not just heard. Do your actions reflect the gratitude in your heart? If you don’t know the answer to this question, the people around you do.
Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough. – Oprah Winfrey
We seem to live in a world of excess, everyone’s busy chasing the dream – bigger is better, greed is good. I wonder, though, if we don’t appreciate what we have, are we deserving of what we get? A good friend and very wise women helped me to understand the importance of giving thanks for what I have and for what I don’t have. As a result, my appreciation for both is abundant, as well as my reward.
We think we have to do something to be grateful or something has to be done in order for us to be grateful, when gratitude is a state of being. – Iyanla Vanzant
The state of gratitude has been prominent in positive psychology for many years. Dr. Robert Emmons, the world’s leading scientific expert on gratitude, has studied the effects of gratitude for more than a decade. His work has proven that there are positive physical and psychological effects for those who practice gratitude. Dr. Emmons’ work has also shown that gratitude improves our relationships with others.
Gratitude involves a humble dependence on others: We acknowledge that other people—or even higher powers, if you’re of a spiritual mindset—gave us many gifts, big and small, to help us achieve the goodness in our lives. – Robert Emmons
While there may be times we feel as if we’re either doing it all or going it alone, there is always someone or something else there to give us hope and keep us going. I am truly grateful for all of the wonderful women, and men, who have provided support and encouragement to Marian and me this year.
Gratitude is the single most important ingredient to living a successful and fulfilled life. – Jack Canfield
According to Psychology Today, “gratitude is an emotion expressing appreciation for what one has.” If you don’t appreciate not only the things you have in life, but also your experiences and the people in your life, how can you possibly be happy? It all starts with loving and appreciating yourself.
One can never pay in gratitude: one can only pay ‘in kind’ somewhere else in life. – Anne Morrow Lindbergh
We all have something in our lives that we should be grateful for – our families, our health, our work, our friends – something. Make it a practice to pay your gratitude forward. It doesn’t have to be in money or grand gestures. Sometimes a warm smile or a heartfelt “thank you” are all that’s needed.
I thank you for allowing me to express my opinions and share my thoughts with you through this blog. I appreciate your readership and wish you a very happy Thanksgiving.
